Marshall County, Alabama is the home of WRAB 107.1 FM Helping Hand Radio - and has been since the station first signed on October 25, 1961. From the county seat at Guntersville on the shores of beautiful Lake Guntersville, to the bustling cities of Arab, Albertville, and Boaz, Marshall County is the beating heart of the community that WRAB has served for over six decades.
Marshall County is a county of remarkable contrasts: world-class bass fishing on Lake Guntersville and industrial poultry processing in Albertville; outlet shopping in Boaz and quiet Sand Mountain plateau farms stretching toward the horizon. WRAB 107.1 FM and the free classifieds on HelpingHandRadio.com serve all of it - from the lake community to the plateau, from the factory floor to the family farm. Whatever Marshall County needs to buy, sell, or share, WRAB is the platform that has connected these communities through every decade of change.
At the center of it all is Archie Anderson - Marshall County's own broadcasting legend. Born in Canton, Mississippi in 1956, Archie moved to Arab at age five and graduated from Arab High School in 1974. He has been on WRAB's airwaves ever since. Named "Arab Citizen of the Year" in 1986, inducted into the Marshall County Sports Hall of Fame and the Alabama Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame in 2018, Archie is the living embodiment of what community radio means in Marshall County. His Helping Hand Show - Monday through Saturday at 9:00 a.m. - is the longest-running community program in Marshall County's broadcast history, and it's still going strong.
